Intersecting identities that inform my practice: Hi! I’m Simone and I use they/them pronouns. I am a white, queer, neurodivergent person and therapist as well as having a stutter. These identities inform my practice by giving me the perspective that we all exist on spectrums of experience. My lived experiences have taught me that there are many intersecting identities that we hold as humans. I welcome all identities and create a space for my clients for them to feel comfortable being vulnerable and authentic. Building a strong therapeutic relationship holds so much power and can be incredibly healing. I take time to get to know each person and their individual experiences and needs. My goal in working with LGBTQIA+ folx is to help my community explore their gender and sexuality and themself as a whole to feel liberated and connected to themself. I have been in the field for a year and a half and have been drawn to working with Queer, neurodivergent individuals.
Background & Approach: My journey into the field of mental health therapy began during my internship in 2023 in a vibrant and inclusive community where I saw some of my first clients. It was there that I discovered my deep love for working with Queer and Trans individuals—a passion that has only grown stronger over time. That early experience shaped my commitment to creating a space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported in all aspects of their identity. Alongside my clinical work, I hold a lifelong commitment to social justice, which is a central pillar of both my personal values and therapeutic approach. I work with clients to navigate the ways systemic oppression intersects with mental health. Whether in the therapy room or out in the world, I bring a lens of equity, advocacy, and compassion to everything I do.
Theoretical & Clinical Orientation: I am particularly interested in connecting and working with young adults in the LGBTQIA+ community. I am eclectic when it comes to the modalities and theories that I integrate into therapy. I love to incorporate and utilize creative arts, feminist/intersectional therapy, trauma-informed, Jungian, person-centered, internal family systems, attachment, and Queer theory, and narrative theory into therapy.
Licensure, Certifications, & Fellowships: Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC.0022283)
Education & Training:
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Winona State University, 2021
Master if Arts in Clincial Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado, 2024
Clinical Specializations: Gender and Sexuality Liberation and Exploration, LGBTQIA+, PTSD and Trauma-informed, Attachment, Relationships, Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Social Justice, Young Adults
Outside of work: In my free time, I enjoy finding creeks in the mountains to hang out at, growing food and herbs in my garden, and art! I also love tarot and astrology and would love to incorporate that into my therapeutic practice.
